CHAMPIX® (varenicline tartrate) tablets for smoking cessation

Welcome to the home of CHAMPIX information online. Brought to you by PFIZER LTD.

CHAMPIX (varenicline tartrate), a medication indicated for smoking cessation in adults, is currently unavailable. Pfizer UK has recalled all Champix from pharmacies across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland as a precautionary measure. This recall is due to the presence of N-nitroso- varenicline above the acceptable level of intake set by both the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). While Pfizer seeks to address the disruption as quickly as possible, we cannot confirm a date when the situation will be resolved. Ensuring continuity of the supply of our medicines is important, and Pfizer fully realises the importance of this medicine. We understand and regret the challenges that this situation poses to both patients and healthcare professionals. Until the CHAMPIX shortage is resolved, patients will need to consult with their healthcare professional to choose an alternative treatment option.
